We're often asked about the difference between our organic soaps and handmade soaps.
Both offer a luxurious washing experience, but they're made using completely different ingredients via a completely different process.
Here's a quick guide to help you understand the difference:
HANDMADE SOAPS: The Cold-Process Method
Our 190g handmade soaps are created using the cold-process method, one 25kg block of soap at a time. This is the traditional way of making soap, discovered thousands of years ago. Little has changed! We mix seven vegetable oils, like shea butter and cocoa butter and combine with lye, and allow nature to take its course.
The mixture heats itself up in an exothermic reaction (remember your school chemistry?) saponifying as it becomes soap, and cools down over 24 hours. We then cut it with piano wire and leave it to cure for 4-6 weeks before putting it on the shelves.
What our customers say:
"My new favourite bath-time treats. The soaps smell and feel divine. They lather easily, and give you a comforting sensation on your skin. I cannot imagine using a different brand now, and look forward to trying the different scents. Wonderful!" - Barbara H.

Organic 150g Soaps: The Melt & Pour Method
Our organic soaps are crafted by melting together organic glycerine and our wild-harvested botanicals and essential oils, before being poured hot into an 8kg mould. This is allowed to cool and set before being cut by hand into two loaves of 26 bars. These are then wrapped by hand and ready to buy - all in a morning's work!
The result?
This method creates translucent bars of soap with rich, bright colours. The moisturising properties of the organic glycerine are retained and these soaps lather quickly and richly.
What our customers say:
"Gorgeous glycerine based soap, with the scent of freshly picked Scottish sweet raspberries. Lovely creamy lather and leaves my skin feeling clean, comfortable and hydrated." - Shona Matson
